An Easy Fix For A Slice
Many golfers in the intermediate and beginning stages of golf tend to slice the ball. In other words, the flight of their ball curves severely from left to right (for right-handed players). There are many different causes for a slice, but one thing all ‘slices’ have in common is that the club face is open at impact with the ball. So, without going into any great detail about each of the various causes, here are a few things you can try right now to straighten your shots:1. Align the inverted ‘V’ of both hands (the V formed by your thumb and index finger) at your back shoulder;
2. Align your body (feet, knees, hips, shoulders and forearms) parallel with the target line;
3. Bend forward from the waist, with your back straight, until your spine is approximately perpendicular with the shaft of your club at address;
4. Swing the club underneath your shoulders on the back swing and down swing keeping your elbows close together in the process.
By creating this flatter rotational swing where the club swings around – not over – your body, you can more easily square or close your club face position at impact thus ridding you of a slice.
